Position Purpose:
The Dean of Students serves as an integral member of the college’s Student Affairs team focused on student access, retention, persistence, and success at each of the college’s locations. The position is a member of the college’s management team (i.e., Riverland Council and Strategic Planning), which builds and encourages effective professional relationships with colleagues and leaders in the community. The incumbent serves as the college Title IX Officer and Deputy Student Affairs Officer, providing leadership, evaluation, and vision to faculty and staff while reinforcing student success and learning; leads and collaborates with faculty and staff to develop and assess co-curricular programs and student services; and serves as an active participant in college, community, and Minnesota State System meetings, as appropriate. The role develops and reviews policies and procedures when necessary to enhance effective and efficient administration. The Dean of Students also provides leadership and support for other initiatives, including college and system workplans.

Minimum Qualifications
Master’s degree required.
Three years successful leadership in student affairs at the program, unit (department), or division level (or comparable) required.
Experience in developing, administering, and managing budgets.
Demonstrated skill in working effectively with student/personnel conflicts and concerns.
Commitment to fostering diversity, equity and inclusion, and the ability to represent, communicate and collaborate with individuals from diverse backgrounds.
Demonstrated experience working with historically excluded culturally and racially diverse populations in higher education.
Preferred Qualifications
Advanced degree (doctorate) preferred.
Five years successful student affairs leadership experience at the program, unit (department), or division level (or comparable) required.
Bilingual/Multilingual fluent in Spanish, Somali, Karen, Anuak, Nuer, or other languages that reflect our student body, workforce, and communities, strongly preferred.
