One Student At A Time, Adds Up for Workforce

As you read this article, more than 100 students will have a better idea about career opportunities in Steele County and hopefully are now a step closer to their plan for after graduation.
Workforce Coordinator, Anisha Zak, has already worked with 50 students and the early success stories are exciting for both the students and our employers.  Here are a few examples provided by Anisha:

  • One student would like to be a welder and wants me to set up a job shadow with welding and then hoping for a career in that field.
  • One student wants a part time job at Central Park Coffee, as well as wants me to find her an interior designer to shadow.
  • One student applied for the nursing program at Riverland.
  • Two students applied for a job at Koda.
  • One student would like to job shadow at a child care center and then hopefully get a job.
  • Two students would like to attend college and major in law enforcement, meanwhile they would like me to set them up with a ride along at the OPD.
The real life stories already taking place through the Steele Co Works/School to Work initiatives are incredible.  Thanks to our partners: United Way of Steele County, Workforce Development, Junior Achievement, and Owatonna Public Schools.
Additionally, thanks to our founding investors of this initiative: Viracon, Daikin Applied, Cybex, Wenger, and Federated Insurance.
