Benike Construction was started when Alvin Benike, a former building inspector for the City of Rochester, realized during his inspections that he would be able to produce higher quality building construction than what he observed in the field. In 1937, he began his contracting business as a one-man shop. Four generations later, his contracting business has grown into a leading regional contractor with over 150 skilled employees. The team at Benike Construction has remained busy with construction projects during COVID-19. One major project they worked on in Owatonna was the construction of the new Minimizer building. To ensure the safety of their employees, Benike Construction has adopted mask wearing and social distancing protocols. Construction workers are not allowed to share tools and are required to disinfect common workspaces throughout the workday. Before entering the worksite, employees of Benike Construction are required to do a temperature and symptom screening. While this proves to be a slight inconvenience, Benike Construction remains committed to following guidelines these guidelines and preventing the spread of COVID-19 to communities in southeastern Minnesota.
